Museum of Cretan Ethnology
Vori, Heraklion, Greece
20 minutes drive from Agia Galini.
Vori, a small town off the main road from Tymbaki to Moires. It has some lovely houses, a town square and the Museum of Cretan Ethnology.
This exquisite museum offers a well-rounded exhibition of the cultural and traditional life on Crete.
The exhibits are organized thematically, like rural life, food production, war, traditions, architecture, music, etc. Most items are well known to the locals; yet, the particular dim lighting gives off a retrospective view on the display cases. It is undoubtedly the best folk museum on the island, as it’s all based on the principles of modern Museology, definitely worth visiting. Good directions on road signing.
